The wide receiver and kicker will join quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, tackle Walter Jones and linebacker Lofa Tatupu as the featured players on Jones Soda bottles this upcoming season, when the upstart Seattle company becomes the official non-alcoholic beverage partner at Qwest Field and its Events Center.

"We are the first NFL team to not have mainstream Pepsi or Coke, and we are using a local soda," said Brown, who kicked four game-winning field goals last season. "That says a lot about who we are and representing the Northwest."

Brown joked that he and Branch, a Super Bowl most valuable player with New England, made the list of players on the bottles because "I score a lot of points, and he scores a lot of touchdowns."

Branch said he was so impressed that he couldn't wait to show his bottle to his 6-year-old twins, Deiondre and Deiontey, while Brown was trying to find out how he could order a case of drinks with his mug shot.

The two players posed for pictures with the drinks at the team's headquarters in Kirkland, while van Stolk and Seahawks Chief Executive Tod Leiweke officially announced the partnership.

"This is certainly unique in the NFL," Leiweke said. "And at the end of the day, this is an interesting opportunity for our fans."

Flavors include:

  • Natural Field Turf Soda (featuring Josh Brown)
  • Sports Cream Soda (featuring Matt Hasselbeck)
  • Perspiration Soda (featuring Deion Branch)
  • Dirt Soda (featuring Lofa Tatupu)
  • Sweet Victory Soda (featuring Walter Jones)

Drinking the Last Days of Summer

Summer is almost coming to an end, and we surely need to drink every last drop of it. I was scouring the web in search of a good lemonade recipe at Simply Recipes. Here it is in quick form:
  • 1 cup of sugar (1 cup makes it very sweet. Reduce amount to taste)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of lemon juice
I also found this quick tip that actually makes the entire recipe easier to mix...
"The secret to perfect lemonade is to start by making sugar syrup, also known as "simple syrup". Dissolving the sugar in hot water effectively disperses the sugar in the lemonade, instead of having the sugar sink to the bottom."
If you're a lemonade fan, you also might want to try raspberry lemonade, apple lemonade, or cherry lemonade. Drink up!

My friend [info]human_skull is an inspiring Food Network star. When she's not busy living out the life of Barbie, she's rockin' the kitchen like a pro. She pointed me out to a site that has recipes and pictures that make me want to eat...a lot. The blog she showed me is called "Ooh, You Tasty Little Things..." which is about using butter for to create good food that is so evil! Check out this photo for their newest recipe, for raspberry cheesecake chocolate cupcakes:

Yeah, image eating that? Its so good to be so bad. Luckily for me, I'm not that handy of a baker. If you're inspired by the picture, or the hundreds of other recipes, check out the site.
