By analyzing personality surveys referenced against zip code, Florida and other researchers have created these heat maps of based on five personality types: Agreeable, Conscientious, Extroverted, Open to Experience, and Neurotic. Here, he maps out those with an agreeable personality type, people who tend to be warm, friendly, compassionate, concerned for the welfare of others, and generally trusting of other people and expecting the same trust in return. They are heavily congregated in the Southeast of the US, with lighter but still discernable presence in the Midwest.


Florida finds that those who tested as conscientious – those who work hard, have a great deal of self‐discipline, are responsible and detail‐oriented, and strive for achievement – are also heavily represented in the Southeast, with a smaller portion found in the Southwest. According to psychologists, those who rank high in conscientiousness tend to be better than average workers on almost any job, completing tasks competently and efficiently.
